Not every weaving begins with a mountain, a river, or a wildflower. Sometimes inspiration comes from a particularly good little shop. :)
While wandering around Columbia Falls, Montana, I came across a beautiful Western bandana at Scout + Gather that sparked the color palette for this pair. Bright red-orange, soft blue, warm ivory, and little golden details came together in a playful weaving with just the right amount of Western charm.
And in a sweet little turn of events, Scout + Gather ended up scooping up a dozen of my designs to share with their customers! One of the many lovely encounters that made our time in Montana feel so welcoming.
Part of The Great West collection, lovingly created this summer in the Flathead Valley of northwest Montana, on the ancestral homelands of the Séliš (Bitterroot Salish), Ql̓ispé (Upper Pend d'Oreille), and Ksanka (Kootenai) peoples, whose living cultures and relationships with these lands continue today.
Hand-woven with high-quality Miyuki glass beads, natural thread, and 18K gold-plated sterling silver (925) earwires. Only the good stuff. :)
25% of proceeds from this pair are donated to Snqʷeyłmistn, a Native-led nonprofit supporting Indigenous children and families on Montana's Flathead Reservation through cultural education, traditional lifeways, and connection to their ancestral lands.
